Message Center Note Retired
New Market, VA—May 12, 2010: The New Market Rebels are happy to announce that they have retired the note for the electronic message center at Rebel Park.
At the annual spring banquet held on May 7th, in conjunction with the Grandstand Managers Club, the $34,430 note was ceremonially cut in pieces by Rebel President and General Manager Bruce Alger.
“We never missed a payment and we were never late once in five years,” Alger told over 60 guests, adding with a laugh, “and that’s not easy when you only play two months out of the year!”
The electronic message center sits directly atop the scoreboard at Rebel Park.
Head Coach Corey Paluga was unable to attend the banquet, which was held at the Johnny Appleseed Restaurant in New Market, but he did send his greetings and a report on the 2010 squad to the Rebel faithful. Coach Mo Weber read Paluga’s statement which indicated that the Rebels should boast a powerful offense.
The Rebel squad, which is comprised of players from all around the United States including California, Florida, Rhode Island, and Arkansas, as well as a core group of players from Virginia, will assemble in New Market on May 30th.
Alger also announced that the 2010 season would be dedicated to Ardis Beaver, long-time Rebel fan and wife of Board member Dave Beaver, who passed away last year.
