A generous and excited crowd gathered at the New Market Community Library on Jan. 16, 2010 for the long awaited realease of "Safe at Home: A Season in the Valley" penned by Austin Gisriel. "Safe at Home..." chronicles the 2009 Rebels. Through all of its highs and lows and improbable weather patterns, the book deftly captures the events and the feel of the 2009 season. From players to coaches to team administrators and the many volunteers who are Rebel baseball, the book provides an insider's view of the many facets of the pride of New Market. The pervasive theme throughout the book, the organization, and indeed the town itself is the power of community. A must read for not only the Rebel Faithful or the residents of New Market, this is a book that will resonate with baseball fans and the perpetually hopeful alike.
